My favorite color in the world is pink. Magenta, neon, pale, rose, blush, puce – you name it, I love it. I distinctly remember my girl friends all liking purple and blue in elementary school, but I clung to the cliché color. Me and 90’s Barbie were where it was at.
Pink has had its ups and downs in the fashion world, but the current consensus is that it’s definitely IN. For spring, I can’t think of a prettier color than blush pink. It’s soft and feminine. And I can’t think of a prettier color combination than pairing it with cream/ivory/off-white/winter white (how many names are there for colors these days?!?!).
J. Crew recently discounted their sale items further, and I picked up this cozy sweater (they label it champagne peach, but it reads more pink to me) and these ivory pants. They paired perfectly with a pair of blush pumps I had in my closet.
Since spring hasn’t gotten the memo that it’s supposed to be warm, I threw my winter white coat (also J. Crew) over the ensemble and took my bad self for a walk. The blush and ivory are so crisp together.
To complement the clean look, I kept the rest of my beauty routine simple as well.
Everyone knows about Essie’s Mademoiselle polish, but I really love Rimmel’s French Lingerie. Its hue is a little less pink, but I like the brush more because of its wider, oval shape; and I adore the fact that it dries quickly and lasts without a top coat! If you’re in a rush or want a subtle, manicured look, glide on one layer. A second layer makes it more of a creamy color. Either way, it’s perfect for any occasion.
My other favorite barely-there makeup is L’Oreal’s Nude Ballet. It has the consistency of a cream and the shininess of a gloss. I wear it with a smokey eye when going out or a shimmery bronze shadow for day wear.
Unlike the Barbie pink I was so enamored with as a child, this blush/cream combo is a classic. Here are a few other items in these sweet hues.

3. Top Shop Embellished Top – $68
